🧠 Learning Through Play in the Pre-school Room
In our Pre-school Room, children are immersed in a rich variety of hands-on experiences designed to spark curiosity and encourage independent learning. Here are just a few of the exciting activities your child will enjoy:
🔍 Interest Tables
Themed tables—such as a harvest table with wheat, flour, and bread, or a beach table with shells, sand, and seaweed—invite children to explore textures, materials, and concepts through open-ended play.
✏️ Writing Table
Children are introduced to mark-making and early writing using a variety of pens and pencils. This activity helps develop fine motor skills and pencil control, laying the groundwork for more formal writing in the future.
🌸 Simple Science Experiments
Hands-on experiments, like placing a white flower in coloured water to show how plants absorb moisture, help children observe cause and effect and begin to understand basic scientific principles in a fun and visual way.
💻 Computer & Technology Skills
Children have access to a computer, printer, and digital camera, along with interactive educational software that teaches basic mouse skills such as clicking, dragging, and scrolling. They can even take and print their own photographs to include in their personal portfolios.
💃 Weekly Dance with Miss Georgia from Flashdance
Every week, our children enjoy a lively and engaging dance session with Miss Georgia from Flashdance School. These sessions promote physical coordination, rhythm, confidence, and joy through movement.
