Dear Nicola & the team at Little Dreams Nursery,

I want to say a huge thank you to you from the whole team here at Befriend a Child for supporting us last year with our Giving Tree Appeal.

When we launched the appeal, as ever, our goal was to bring Christmas magic to children in Aberdeen who may be unlikely to receive gifts due to challenges at home. This can be heartbreaking for both the children, and their parents who are struggling to make ends meet.

With your help, not only have we been able to give gifts to each of the children that we support, but we have enough for Birthdays for the year ahead, and we were able to give extras for any Befriended children’s siblings at home that we knew wouldn’t receive gifts. An auntie who has recently taken on the care of her nephew and niece after they lost both of their parents, was increasingly worried about how she could afford Christmas for them, and her own 4 children. Another mum’s financial situation changed unexpectedly, and she had no way to find the funds for presents under the tree. Our team stepped in, and hand-picked gifts for all of the children in the home, dropping them off with mum and auntie, and lifting some of the burdens they were carrying.

This would not have been possible without you.

We have also been blown away by the incredible donations towards activities for the year ahead. These activities are the heart and soul of what Befriend a Child does, giving children time away from their difficult life situations, learning new skills, and growing in their confidence. With your help, we have raised an incredible £15,737.13 towards fun outings and activities for 2025, and have given gifts to over 200 children.

Of course, we at Befriend a Child have much more work to do to keep our Befriending going, and our fundraising must go on beyond Christmas. You have already given so much, but if you are in a position to, we would love to have your support by joining us during our events, taking on a challenge, or supporting our fundraising activities with prizes. I’ve listed our upcoming events and challenges at the end of my message, hopefully, there is something there that catches your interest!

We would, of course, love to have your support for the Giving Tree again in 2025, if you would like to take part let me know and I’ll note your participation for this year.

I would also like to extend our thanks to XIC for covering the printing costs of the tags for us.
